The navdata update has been moved from the external Navigraph Hub application to the MCDU and can now be done while the simulator is running.
If you are using version V2.4.1.0 or older, follow the instructions in the Updating Navdata in older versions at the end of this article.
Authorizing Navigraph
Before you can use any of the Navigraph related functions, such as Navdata update or Navigraph charts you’ll need to connect your account by heading to the Settings App > Connections and locate the Navigraph option.
Click the Connect button and you'll be presented with a screen to give permission for the EFB to receive information from your Navigraph account.
You can either scan the QR code or open https://navigraph.com/code and enter the code shown on your EFB screen. Follow the instructions on screen to grant access.
You can see status of the connection next to the Connect/Disconnect button and can disconnect it at any time.
Choose a navdata mode
The Navigraph Navdata Mode in the Settings app allows you to choose between automatic or manual update of the navdata.
| Mode | What it does |
|---|---|
| Disabled | Turns off automatic updates. Use CHECK on the MCDU A/C STATUS page to update STANDBY through Navigraph. |
| Hot Standby | Automatically updates STANDBY database. You activate it separately. |
| Automatic | Automatically updates navdata and activates it when the aircraft conditions permit. |
| Manual Import | Imports a local database into STANDBY through IMPORT on the A/C STATUS page. Navigraph sign-in is not required. |
Fenix has two navdata slots: ACTIVE and STANDBY. The FMS uses the ACTIVE database. Updates and local imports first enter the STANDBY database, shown on the MCDU as SECOND NAV DATA BASE. You can activate the secondary nav database by pressing the Line Select Key marked by the arrow symbol.
Automatic mode activates updated navdata when the aircraft conditions permit. In other modes, you activate STANDBY separately.
Navdata checks run automatically when the aircraft starts. Hot Standby and Automatic modes also download future AIRAC data when available. That data is stored separately until its effective date.
Update through Navigraph
When using the Disabled and Hot Standby option with Navigraph subscription, navdata can be updated or activated manually via the A/C STATUS page the MCDU.
To update the navdata through Navigraph, do the following:
- Open MCDU > DATA > A/C STATUS.
- Press CHECK.
- Wait for the download and validation to finish.
To activate the navdata following an update, do the following:
- Check the STANDBY database dates.
- Activate STANDBY when required.
To be able to update Navdata via MCDU, make sure you're signed in to your navigraph account via the EFB and have an active Navigraph subscription.
Fenix keeps downloaded ZIP files in:
C:\ProgramData\Fenix\NavdataDFD\Import
Files use a fixed name, such as 2610-r001.zip. Before downloading, Fenix checks that exact filename and verifies its contents against the hash supplied by Navigraph. If it matches, Fenix reuses it. Other filenames are ignored during this check.
Import a local database
When using the Manual Import option navdata can be updated via the A/C STATUS page the MCDU.
The file must contain a compatible DFD v2 database. Supported extensions are
.zip,.s3db,.3sdb, and.db3.
To import local database, do the following:
- Select Manual Import in EFB Settings.
-
Put the file directly in:
C:\ProgramData\Fenix\NavdataDFD\Import -
Use this filename format:
YYCC-rRRR.extensionFor example:
2610-r001.zip-
26is the year. -
10is the AIRAC cycle number. -
001is the revision.
Use the cycle and revision supplied with the database. They must match its contents.
-
- Open MCDU > DATA > A/C STATUS.
- Press IMPORT.
- Wait for the import to finish.
- Check the STANDBY database dates, then activate it separately.
Fenix ignores other filename formats and files in subfolders. It keeps the source file after import.
If there is one accepted file, Fenix imports it directly. If there are multiple accepted files, the scratchpad shows:
TYPE AIRAC CYCLE
Enter the four-digit cycle, such as 2610, then press IMPORT again.
Fenix selects the highest revision for that cycle. If the same revision exists in different file formats, it selects the file with the latest modified date. It opens and validates only the selected file.
Activate STANDBY database
On A/C STATUS, select SECOND NAV DATA BASE to activate STANDBY database.
Activation is permitted only when:
- The aircraft is on the ground.
- The FMS is in the preflight phase or the flight is complete.
- No navdata check, download, or validation is in progress.
- The database’s effective start date has arrived.
Activation resets the FMS. The previous ACTIVE database becomes STANDBY.
A future cycle can be imported before its effective date, but it cannot be activated early.
Import messages
| Message | Action |
|---|---|
| NO IMPORT FILE | Check the folder, filename, and supported extension. |
| TYPE AIRAC CYCLE | Enter the cycle in YYCC format, then press IMPORT. |
| CYCLE NOT FOUND | Check that a correctly named file exists for the entered cycle. |
| IMPORT FAILED | Check that the file is closed, complete, and contains compatible DFD v2 data. Confirm that its cycle and revision match the filename. |
If an import fails, the existing STANDBY database remains available.
Updating Navdata in older versions
Version V2.4.1.0 and older require updating via the external Navigraph Hub application.
To update your Fenix Navdata to the latest AIRAC cycle using this method, please use Navigraph Hub (Formally Navigraph Navdata Center) to update the Fenix A320 Navdata. If you do not have a Navigraph subscription, you will not be able to do this. Visit https://navigraph.com/ to purchase a subscription and download Navigraph Hub from the website before proceeding below.
Step 1. Open 'Navigraph Hub'
Step 2. Select 'MSFS2020/2024 - Installed outside Simulator'
Step 3. Click Update or Install next to 'Fenix Simulations A320'
Step 4. Please wait for it to complete.
Step 5. Go Fly! It will be complete when it shows 'Remove'. You can close the Navigraph Hub software now.
If you've updated your navdata but the MCDU shows no navdata, ensure both Fenix and MSFS are fully closed before updating your navdata.
As of version 2.2.0.232, the navdata has been updated to be in line with simbrief - cycle 2303. If you don't have a Navigraph subscription and yours still shows navdata from 2021, follow this KB article Old Navdata still installed
